Award Winning Educator & Businesswoman
A former classroom teacher, middle school counselor, high school counselor and adjunct professor at Texas A&M, Commerce, Dr. Marsha Farney has experience at every level of Texas public education. Honored as a campus and district-wide Teacher of the Year, Marsha Farney earned her Bachelor and Master degrees from Texas A&M, Commerce, and her PhD from the University of Texas, Austin.

Marsha Farney is also a businesswoman. She and her husband, Bryan, own the historic Howard Theater in Taylor where she is a member of the Taylor Area Businesswomen Association. Marsha, a former Texas Realtor, now works to help manage family real estate interests.
Proud Republican
Marsha is a lifelong Republican and native Texan whose family came to Texas in the 1830’s when Texas was a Republic. She is an active member of the Georgetown Area Republican Women’s Club, the Williamson County Republican Women’s Club and holds affiliate Republican Club memberships throughout her district. She has been an avid supporter of many Republican campaigns, including State Senator Steve Ogden, Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott and State Representative Charles Schwertner. Marsha and her husband, Bryan, also served as Williamson County delegates to the 2010 Texas Republican Convention.
Elected Public Servant
In 2010, Dr. Marsha Farney was elected to the State Board of Education from District 10 for a two year term, receiving over 255,000 votes. She brings a common sense conservative perspective to the Board as well as that of a public school parent and experienced educator. As a board member, Dr. Farney has nominated outstanding teachers from District 10 to serve on curriculum writing teams and serves as the Vice Chair on the Committee on Instruction. Traveling frequently within her district, Marsha is working to fulfill her goal of visiting each of the 70 school districts in her region during her term so she can see first-hand the successes and challenges facing the public schools and its families.
Community & Charitable Advocate

Bryan, Ashley, and Drew
Marsha Farney’s commitment to give back to her community is evidenced by her civic leadership and volunteerism. She currently serves as a Board Member of the Seton Williamson Hospital Women’s Foundation, The Williamson Museum, the Chisholm Trail Communities Foundation and the Taylor Area Businesswomen Association. She has supported several local organizations that provide assistance to children and needy families including The Caring Place, WC4C (Williamson County Community Coordinated Child Care), Seeds of Strength, Children’s Advocacy Center in Williamson County, Children’s Advocacy Center in Burnet County, the Georgetown Project and Ride On Center for Kids (ROCK) which provides equestrian therapy for children and our veterans.
Marsha’s Family
Marsha Farney and her husband, Bryan, reside in Georgetown with their youngest son, Drew, and enjoy attending First Baptist Church. Drew attends Ford Elementary School in Georgetown ISD where Marsha is a PTA mom. Their daughter, Ashley, and her husband, Brad, live in Round Rock where grandson Braden attends Round Rock ISD and granddaughter Ava will attend preschool. Their oldest son, Bryan, lives in Austin.
